Become a Giant Slayer!

ree

Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in his shepherd's [lunch] bag [a whole kid's skin slung from his shoulder], in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand, and he drew near the Philistine. The Philistine came on and drew near to David, the man who bore the shield going before him. And when the Philistine looked around and saw David, he scorned and despised him, for he was but an adolescent, with healthy reddish colour and a fair face. And the Philistine said to David, Am I a dog, that you should come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. The Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. Then said David to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the ranks of Israel, Whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will smite you and cut offyour head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands. When the Philistine came forward to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. David put his hand into his bag and took out a stone and slung it, and it struck the Philistine, sinking into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck down the Philistine and slew him. But no sword was in David's hand. So he ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath, killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their mighty champion was dead, they fled. And the men of Israel and Judah rose with a shout and pursued the Philistines as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron (1 Samuel 17:40-52 Amp).

David walked in his call as a giant slayer. We need to learn how to walk in our calling; walk in our destiny, and become giant slayers. Have you ever had a victory from the Lord? Do you know in your heart that you have had one? Let me say this -- if you have had a victory of the Lord in your life, take this to the bank: it is His desire to give you more victory! Just like we see with David, the victory that God gives you will probably be a victory that is bigger than the last one you had. Do you want this?

This is a prophetic message to giant slayers because your call and your destiny is to slay the giants.

We all face a giant in our life, and the giant may be different for different people. You may already have a good idea of the giant that is before you. Your giant may be relationships, finances, healing for your body, or something else, but you will have a giant to face. Have you ever had a challenge where you feel down-trodden, discouraged, and weak? What did David do when everybody was coming against him; where it looked like there was no hope? David strengthened himself in the Lord. He didn’t go running over here or running over there to this intercessor, or that prophet to get a special word: he went to the Lord. It is good to have intercessors, and have those gifted in prophecy, but there is something about strengthening yourself in the Lord: because you are called to be a giant slayer. I know it may be hard to believe but my natural nature is quiet and somewhat reserved (go figure) therefore, there will be very few who know when I am in a battle but the Lord will always know. It is Christ I go to simply because HE is the ultimate source of my strength. Please understand that when David went to battle it was with no fanfare at all. He knew what to do and did it totally under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

This needs to go from just words to your spirit man. You are called to something beyond the natural: you are called to be a supernatural men or women. Much of Christianity doesn’t want to go here: they don’t want to hear what they are -- they like the environment or the demons that play around them all the time. You, however, are called to greater things. I don’t know if you have ever heard this before, but your victory can propel a nation into victory. Your act of obedience can propel a nation to victory! As we read 1 Samuel 17, the scripture is very clear in showing that David was a giant slayer, but he had smaller victories that he had to overcome before he became a giant slayer. He killed a lion; he killed a bear, and then he went after a giant totally empowered and infused with the Holy Spirit. In that moment he was the outstretched hand of God. This is indeed for you when revelation hits you must act.

Have you ever had a supernatural victory in your life? Can you see that it was the Lord who did it? We must give God the glory for these victories! There is something about having the attitude of being a giant slayer. There is something about a mindset that says, “All things are possible with God” (Matt 19:26). There is something about that which propels the Holy Spirit to work. Do you need a little more of the Holy Spirit to work? There is something about the tenacity of saying, “My God can do these things. My God is more than able and if he so chooses he will use you infused with heaven. .” If you want to walk in this, you need to have the ‘giant slayer’ released for your life, and that is the Holy Spirit.

“David said, ‘The Lord Who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine’” (1 Sam 17:37 Amp). Do you see the type of attitude David had? All of the armies of Israel were sitting there shaking. Saul, who was not a small man, (and some would say he would be equal to a giant), didn’t want to go out to battle with his adversary.

I’m going to throw this out for you: David is a type of Christ; an Old Testament type of Christ. Any deliverer is a type of Christ. In the Old Testament, there were many deliverers. Moses was a deliverer: he delivered the people out of Egypt to the border of the promised land. He was a type of Christ, and so was David. (I am describing the attributes of the Lord Jesus.) David had attributes that were supernatural. He had already had two victories: he had the victory over the lion and the victory over the bear. It is good to look back at our lives to see if we have had a victory supernaturally. Why? It’s because God looks and He sees the God-victory, and He will give you more. But here is the key -- obedience. If you want the victory of the Lord in your life, then obedience is the key. If you are a believer full of the Holy Spirit you have HIS attributes ready for battle.

“And Saul said to David, ‘Go, and the Lord be with you!’ Then Saul clothed David with his armour” (1 Samuel 17:37-3 8 Amp). Saul had armour, but it was too big for David. You cannot wear someone else’s armour. You might see a dynamic preacher up at the front and say, “I will be just like him.” God has a unique weapon for you.

“He put a bronze helmet on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword over his armour. Then he tried to go, but could not, for he was not used to it. And David said this to Saul, ‘I cannot go with these, for I am not used to them’, and David took them off” (v.38-39). Don’t let anybody put you in a box, you should not wear anothers armor when you go to battle. Your formula in the Spirit may not work for me and the same is true for each and every one of us. Be you; don’t be anybody else. Use the giftings that the Lord has given you not someone elses.

“Then he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in his shepherd’s [lunch] bag [A whole kid skin slung from his shoulder], in his pouch” (v. 40). How do you think David got that information? He received it through revelation. “Lord, what do you want me to do next?” The Lord works out of a flow of revelation to you and me. I must go in my revelation not yours. Do you want more of that? Do you want to hear the voice of the Lord? That, quite frankly, is the only way to have the supernatural in your life. Don’t try to think it through; don’t try to rationalize it; don’t try to emotionalize it. You need to hear from the Lord.

Pray the following prayer: Lord, I ask for revelation. I do not want anything other than Your kingdom And Your will being done. I pray it now because you said I could. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lord, there is lots of revelation in heaven, so I ask for revelation in the earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“And his sling was in his hand, and he drew near to the Philistine. The Philistine came on and drew near to David” (v.40-4 1). Did you know that what is opposing you thinks that you are little and weak? Your adversary thinks you are little and weak, but greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world (1John 4:4). Has anyone ever sung the song, “He’s got the whole world in His hands”? That is not true. What! It is not true. The devil is the god of this world. We are aliens here to occupy; we are all aliens. We represent the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is alien to the things of this world. The kingdom of God is different from the kingdom of this world. Have you ever noticed?

You may have had the world impact you this week in areas of your life like COVID or the war that is raging in the Ukraine or possibly a personal tragedy in your life. Have you ever had things go wrong? That doesn’t happen in the kingdom of God. Do you understand what I am saying? We are not of this world: we are heavenly beings. We are different, and we make a difference. You are to advance the kingdom of God. “And when the Philistine looked around and saw David, he scorned and despised him” (v.42). God’s kingdom will always be despised. The advancement of God’s kingdom will always be despised in your life.

You know the devil is okay with religion. He is not okay with the supernatural power of God. He is not okay with you being on fire for God. He is okay with you going to church. If you are going to church and you are not making a difference in the world, then he says, “Go, have fun, enjoy your life.” But, if you make a difference and you are advancing the kingdom of God, he won’t like that. If you are making a difference, the devil will not like it. We need to be making a difference for the kingdom of God. If this challenges you, that’s okay.

“For he was but an adolescent with a healthy reddish colour, and a fair face” (v.42). If you’re a young adult, and you think that you have to be a certain age to do anything for God, take the limits off. God does not impose those limits. “And the Philistine said to David, ‘Am I a dog that you come to me with sticks?’ And the Philistine cursed David by his gods” (v.43). Do you know that the devil underestimates the power of the Lord Jesus Christ in your life? It is not a nice thought -- it is a God thought. If you are a believer, the power of God is resident in your life. The Word of God says so. Amen, so be it. The power of God is in me; the power of God is in you.

You know there are all sorts of mindsets that say you have got nothing, but you have the power of God in your life. “And the Philistine said to David, ‘Come to me and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field.’ Then said David to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the ranks of Israel Whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will smite you, and cut off your head, and I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air...’” (v.43-45).

One man, is not only coming against Goliath, but he is also coming against the Philistines represented by Goliath. He is coming against the nation. One man, in a timeframe of a few minutes, will bring the entire Philistine army into total disarray. It is the same thing that happened at the cross. Jesus released the supernatural for you and me. The devil is no longer in a battle with the Lord; he is in a battle with you. He is in a battle with you. Victory has already been won through the battle on the cross. The only battles that are going on, are in your life and in my life. It can be intense at times but expect the Lord to release revelation to you because you are on the winning side. The Lord says, and He declares, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) It is finished. The victory is finished. He just wants us to walk in it. Jesus beat the devil; your adversary is defeated, and we need to treat him like he is defeated.

“And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all of this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hand”. There is a power and anointing of the Lord on this word. Is the Lord the same yesterday, today and forever? Was His victory than the same as it is today? Absolutely. Today, adapt a mindset that comes from heaven. You are full of power dominion and authority through Christ alone. He has confidence in you to be victorious. Take it into your heart and life today. Say to that mountainbe removed in Jesus name. Much Love.
