Are you hungry

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6 NKJV).
The Lord wants to release an even greater hunger for spiritual things, and in North America, it is very apparent that people are satisfied by things other than that of the Spirit. Have you noticed that? Churches that are preaching the uncompromised Word of God should be full of people, but there are other things that are keeping people from being in church: maybe there’s a hockey game or a football game on, or something like that. The reality is that
most people are not spiritually hungry. When you were a baby you would cry when you were hungry and you would cry when you needed to have your diaper changed: it would be one or the other, we all would know when you were hungry.
(Have you ever changed a diaper? Have you ever fed a little baby? You know what I’m talking about.) The Lord desires to release that hunger for the things of God. With spiritual hunger, you have to hunger all of the time. I’m hungry right now for more of the things
of God, and I put my flesh down. Why? So I can hunger for more of the things of God in my life. Have you ever eaten broccoli? Do you know that broccoli is very good for you? Did you have a parent who would try to get you to eat things you didn’t want to eat? Broccoli was one of those things that I didn’t like. Unlike some parents, the Lord doesn’t want to force-feed us; we need to be hungry on our own. We need to eat the things of God on our own because He will not force-feed us. Have you ever been force-fed? I can tell you what makes
that broccoli really palatable—Cheez Whiz melted and poured all over it!
What makes you hungry? When you see miracles, doesn’t that make you hungry for more of the things of God in your life? It will make you hungry for a greater anointing and a greater measure of walking in the things of God. We’re on a journey that is taking us through life, and we’re making progress. Revival starts with a hungry heart which then catches fire and spreads because it can become contagious., for the supernatural.
A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On
“Yet once more I shake not only the earth but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that
the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our, God is a consuming fire
(Hebrews 12:26-29 NKJV).
A greater awakening will take place, and with it will comes a great shaking. There needs to be shaking in North America and literally around the world. So get ready, because there is a shaking coming, and it is going to be greater than 9-11. There needs to be a shaking. Shaking because of COVID-19 or the current wars in the world. Guess what? It will happen. God will be the one who will do it, and we do not have to fear. Please hear my heart: we don’t have to fear, because we are on the winning side. You’re a winner—you’re on the winning side!
Everything that’s kingdom will remain through all the shaking and those things that are of man will all be removed. But a shaking will take place. Why? Because multitudes are going to come into the kingdom. There’s a certain security that is in North America, and it will
be shaken. It will be! It may not be God, but all things work for good for those who believe in Christ Jesus. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV). God will
bring out that good on the other side of the shaking, but you have to be vigilant. You have to be hungry for the things of God.
When I was growing up, (by the way I am a grown-up now) we had a tradition on Sunday mornings. My dad would get up at eight o’clock, or maybe earlier, and would make a big pile of toast and a big pile of bacon. There were four kids in my family, and all four of us would sit at the table expecting this exact meal after church. What were we expecting? We were expecting food! Do you know why? It’s because we could smell it and could quite literally taste it, and we were hungry for it. Something is released through expectations. My big brother was quicker than me; he was hungrier! What does that translate into? He would be the first one to get the spoils. Will you be the first one to get the spoils?
There is something about hunger. Let me say this: those who are more hungry get more spoils. Isn’t that good? I am almost desperate for the things of God! I’m desperate for more miracles to be happening, not only in church but out on the streets of our communities and throughout the world. I’m desperate for those things. I’m desperate for more words of knowledge, more words of wisdom, and more deliverance to take place. I’m desperate for the things of God, but, more importantly, I’m desperate for a more intimate relationship with my risen Saviour. Out of this will and this alone will flow the kingdom of God.
The focus of the church must be the kingdom of God. The focus of the church goes outside our four walls. I’ve said it many times: you are an alien here. You’re an alien! We are to advance the kingdom of God. If it was just to get to heaven, why weren’t you taken out of here the second you got saved? You are here to cause the kingdom of God to advance
through your life and through my life and through His Church. That’s what it’s all about, but in the western world, we get comfortable. I resist the comfortable. We need to always be taking new ground. Whether it is individually, or whether it is a corporate body, we are not satisfied with being stationary. The kingdom of God is always on the move, and it is not going back: it is always going forward.
Do you believe that you are at a greater place with the Lord now than you were a year ago? We need to be at a greater place with Him. Every day when I get up I say, “Lord, I need to be higher than I was yesterday. I need to have more anointing than I had yesterday.
I need to be more in love with You today than I was yesterday.”
In a vision, I have seen angels twirling in the heavens right above the church I pastored. Do you believe in angels? I’ve seen too many to not believe. There’s a new release of spiritual hunger that’s taking place. Hunger is defined as “a craving” or “a strong desire.” You cannot give a strong desire to anyone else; they have to pick it up on their own through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. All of us need to hunger and thirst for more of the things of God in our lives.
There was a story that came out in the news about five men who had been in a fishing boat off the coast of Mexico. Two of the five men died. They left Mexico on a fishing expedition in
November of that year, expecting to go home that night or within a reasonable time period; but they traveled over 4,000 miles, and two of them died. Three of them had to eat raw fish. They had to eat birds that would land on their boat and they would drink rainwater that would fall from the skies because you cannot drink seawater. If I was to go to them today and ask them if they knew what it was to be hungry, do you think that they would be able to tell me? Do you think that they would be in a position to say that it was so intense that they could not focus on anything else? That is really what hunger is like. I doubt that you have been that hungry in either the natural or in the spiritual. If I was to ask all the people in church today (myself included) if they’ve really hungered for the things of God, almost every person would raise his or her hand to say, “Yes.” Is that right? The reality is that deep down inside our nature there is this thing that battles with the spiritual hunger that is taking place in our lives. Our natural nature resists the supernatural and this fact alone sends many in the wrong direction and they perish for a lack of knowledge of God. Have you recognized this battle that goes on constantly in our lives? I hunger for the things of God, but on the other hand, maybe I should go watch the football game rather than go to church. Have you ever been there? I’m being honest. That battle goes on. Do you know what we need to do? We need to choose hunger.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6 NKJV). The Scripture could mean“ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for the kingdom of God, for they will be filled.” Would I be contradicting theology in any
way if I said righteousness would be an attribute of the kingdom of God? Righteousness is definitely an attribute of God’s kingdom. I want to focus on something here that many times people miss out on. Do you want to be blessed? When you are hungry for spiritual things, you are going to be blessed. That’s what this Scripture says. Do you want to be blessed? When you are hungry for the kingdom of God and hungry for the spiritual advancement of the kingdom of God and hungry for His righteousness on this earth, you are going to be blessed! Again, do you want the blessings of God? Blessed are those who are hungry! Do you remember when you have been hungry? Are you hungry today? “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”
Other translations say “for they will be satisfied.” Do you want to be satisfied?
“Blessed”!
I want you to focus on that blessed just for a second. There is a battle going on between our natural, carnal nature and our spiritual man. Hunger needs to be stirred up! Hunger is like love; hunger is like forgiveness: it’s a choice that we need to make. If you’re hungry, pray the following prayer:
Lord, I hunger for the things of God! I hunger for you! Lord, I pray that you would release Your grace so that I would hunger in even a greater measure for the things of God in my life! Lord, I pray that I would be focused on You and Your kingdom, in the name of Jesus.
The only one responsible for your hunger is you. It’s not like natural hunger. Spiritual hunger needs to be stirred up in our lives. Why? Because of that battle that goes on between natural and spiritual.
Have you ever had to choose love? Have you ever had to choose forgiveness? I choose love! I choose forgiveness! I choose hunger! We choose these things. I need greater love; I need greater forgiveness operating in my life, and I need greater hunger. These
are only a few. I need so much more in my life, and He is ready to release everything I need. God is at work. He is alive, and it’s His desire to do so much more than what we see with our natural eyes. It’s so beyond us. It’s beyond our natural comprehension. When I was eight years old I was sitting on the grass looking up at the sky, and I saw the moon
over here and the sun over there. I said, “There has got to be a God!”
I became a believer when I was twenty-one, but at the age of eight, I knew that this evolution theory was garbage. Do you know what the chance of life just happening on earth is? I think it’s six to the ninety-third power. When you get finished figuring out what that is, come and see me: I will be old and very grey (other than the grey I already have). Six to the ninety-third power is something that actually defies the way we think. Understand that you are divinely appointed and chosen by the King of Glory and that to achieve what we are here for means we must hunger for the things HE hungers for, what is the heartbeat of heaven for? It is that all would enter the Kingdom and that's what our purpose and mandate must be. Grab this mantle today for the things that are before you and see the power of heaven. Much love!
